I was looking around for a racing subframe, but nothing on ebay. Are the K7 stock sub's decent enough to leave on for racing or should I keep looking?

You're looking for the whole assembly or just the bare aluminium piece?

I'm wondering whether to use the stock one or if there is a better racing version?

Stock one works fine. I don't even know of any other kind. Other than aftermarket replacements.

The popular mod is to chop the passenger portion off. Less to get bent, and of course less weight.

You're talking about 2 maybe three pounds... That and every racing tail I've seen, requires both parts of the sub-frame.
