Catalytic converter

I have a 06 R6 and I'm thinking of cutting the catalytic converter and replacing it with a pipe so I can open up my exhaust system or just purchasing a full exhaust. Is it even worth the dollar to buy a full aftermarket exhaust comparing to replacing the catalytic with a straight thru pipe and just throwing in a PC3? There's a company called MJS performance that cuts the catalytic convereter and replaces it with a straight thru and they said that it's almost the same HP gain if you purchase a complete aftermarket exhaust. What are your input on this?

I was thinking of doing this.

Regardless of flow/power/power-band, an aftermarket exhaust (full system) is going to save you A LOT of weight. Even if you have a slip-on already, the stock headers are still very heavy in comparison to the aftermarket.
Furthermore, an aftermarket exhaust will hold its value well if you decide to sell it (and haven't wrecked it too badly) vs. a gutted stock system which is worth little more than a stock system which is worth little more than its weight in scrap metal.

The convertor isn't going to cause a power loss in that exhaust, they're bigger in that area to allow the same flow as a empty pipe. Cutting it out will reduce heat and weight though. Any dyno's I've seen with a convertor gutted had no power gain. Your best bet is a full system with a PC3 or Bazzaz fuel controller, I love the Bazzaz Zfi and Zafm coupled together to make your own fuel maps.
